Foundations and terreiro: what a house's life is like
What a terreiro is, how giras are organized and what Umbanda spaces typically contain.

What a terreiro is
Teaching of a house or traditionA terreiro is the space of worship and community life of a house. The structure varies: there are houses with roles of leader, mediums, cambonos and attendees, and others with a different organization.
Teaching of a house or traditionThe gira is the ritual gathering in which, according to the houses, singing, consultations and spirit incorporation take place. Many houses offer consultations free of charge, but that depends on each house.
Precautions
Belief / interpretationThis site does not teach rituals, spiritual work or offerings. Learning the foundations happens inside the house, with the leader's guidance.
A gira has several functions
Teaching of a house or traditionOne tradition presents the cambone as the person who accompanies the medium and helps communication with the visitor, organizes the materials and reports situations outside the rules to the leadership. The role is not limited to handing over objects: it also involves attention to the consultation and to safety. This description belongs to that house; it does not define all Umbandas.
Teaching of a house or traditionThe same source highlights the confidentiality of consultations and the learning of those who assist. The relationship between helper, medium and leadership should be understood according to the organization of the house visited, without presuming identical roles or procedures in every terreiro.
Why there is no single script
Teaching of a house or traditionOne tradition describes its opening, with singing, instruments and greetings. Another tradition describes sessions without atabaques, clapping or dancing, with pontos cantados and riscados. The difference shows why instruments and ritual sequence cannot be used as a test of authenticity for all houses.
Belief / interpretationHere we do not reproduce a sequence for performing rituals. The comparison serves to understand the diversity, not to replace religious transmission.
Before visiting
Teaching of a house or traditionOne tradition describes reception by ticket and the cambone's help, besides ethical limits the house applies to consultations. These are local examples. On your visit, confirm with the house itself its days, times, access conditions, clothing guidance and form of consultation.
Belief / interpretationThis site has not yet received official schedules from CASA PAI ROGERIO or registrations from other houses. There is no confirmed schedule. Spiritual guidance should not replace healthcare; no one needs to accept physical contact, exposure of intimate data or threats to seek welcome.
Space, roles and participation
Teaching of a house or traditionA study proposal organizes terreiro life into physical space, gira, roles and clothing. It is a way of organizing the reading, not a universal rule. It recalls that understanding a gira involves more than observing a spirit incorporation: there are people who welcome, guide and care for the organization.
Belief / interpretationBefore visiting, ask what is open to the congregation and what is reserved for the house's routine. Do not deduce permissions from the size of the space, someone's clothing or photographs. The rules of circulation, image recording and participation must come from the house you are going to visit.
