Candomblé was formed in Brazil from the presence of enslaved Africans and their descendants, in relations of resistance, memory and re-creation. It has no single founding date nor a founder common to all houses.
The relation with ancestors must not be confused with a single classification of spirits valid for all Candomblés.

The daily life of communities, the transmission of knowledge and the care for spaces keep bonds between past and present.
