Formation of Candomblé in Brazil
Candomblé was formed in Brazil from the presence of enslaved Africans and their descendants, in relations of resistance, memory and re-creation. It has no single founding date nor a founder common to all houses.

Diaspora and organization
Africans from different regions and their descendants organized religious communities during slavery and after it. Encounters, conflicts and solidarity networks took part in that formation.
More than one history
The history of the Yoruba, ewe-fon and Central African traditions must not be reduced to a single origin.
Ketu, Jeje and Angola are important references of Candomblé diversity. Orixás, voduns and inquices belong to their own histories and liturgies: they are not just different names for a single catalog.
